"The Gift Of Friendship"

Friends give us their friendship and all that goes with it,laughter, support, loyalty, trust, companionship, sympathy, new interests. When we give friendship,we get friendship in return. It truly is a gift we give ourselves.
Unfortunately, its easy to become so busy,self-absorbed,or cautious that we shut ourselves off from the possibility of making new friends.
Sometimes we even shut ourselves off from friends we already have. So,lets be careful that it doesn't happen. We always need the ones we have.Opening ourselves to friendship takes time and commitment, and it involes some risks----but,oh,the possibilities of having met them and all the laughter and good times you will have.I will try to be open to new friendships, maybe even unlikely friendships. If I want my life to make sense,I need to start with a mental map of which direction I want to go.

  1. Nicely put. One should always have a plan - in every area of life...

  2. I like being open to new friendships. That's how I met you and Vixen.Caution and suspicion are all right in small measure, but sadly, they rule so many people's lives now. It's so easy to become obsessive about possible dangers in being open and friendly, that you can ruin your own life without any outside help.
I'm happy I met you.You listen to all my boring stories about my grandkids...HA!

Most time I do ,but not all time ,I am getting better,I guess some of the Vixen vibes is rubbing off on me,it nice to have someone who can hold it together...I think my comment got lost...Nanand J.J.said they who who/where the stalker is,they will tell us if we promise not to tell, should hear real soon.

  5. I think ,if you follow one or two rules of caution you can enjoy friendships on-line without second thoughts.
I like it that I have an outlet for my "off-topic thoughts". i. e. when I have watched a reality show that was so bad that I just have to snark/write about it.

Fuck the stalker.Nobody really cares.Much more interesting would be if your family-source would kiss and tell...LOL

  6. A few people (no names)are obsessed with the stalker.Without her, their lives would have no meaning. They would have nothing to talk about.
Aside from them, not too many people even know about her.

It would certainly be more interesting to know what goes on in Dave's house or in his devious little mind.
I hope Aunt May hasn't lost her teeth yet.I haven't met Jill, but I know I'd love her.Are you getting tired, with all the guests keeping you busy Nee?I'm sorry i haven't been around too much this week, too many places to go,people to see.

  13. I guess you grew up with a house full of people.I was an only child and when the guests are gone I like the quiet time.I'm better with a couple of really good friends. Then I really let my hair down and have some fun and laughs.

  21. Gluehwein and Jaegertee will raise even the dead on a cold winters day.

  22. What the hell are those two things you mentioned Vix?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous8:14:00 PM

Sis mames a good eggnog,Dad makes a mean punch that will make the peach fuzz on the kitty curl up.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thank you ladies. Your comments are very appreciated.

Gluehwein (Hot wine) and Jaegertee (Hunters tea - hot rum with spices) are the number one beverages in the Alps for Skiers. They are hot and they contain a lot of alcohol. Everybody who has spent his winter-vacations in the Alps will know them and their devastating effect on sobriety.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thats the hidden danger - the sweet hot drinks are the most dangerous ones (for your sobriety).

    ReplyDelete
  28. You were? TELL US ALL ABOUT IT. I love scandals....LOL

    ReplyDelete
  29. Come on,Nee,give it up.

    ReplyDelete
  30. We have a similar drink, mulled wine with spices and cinnamon stick.Boy,that's making my mouth water.

However, there is a BIG BUT to it. I will write it to cupcake in an email and she can tell it to you.

  37. I promise I will spend more quality time on the blog in 09.The holiday season is just too busy.
The only reason I have time this evening is because Brian has a bad cold and we couldn't go to an important family party.
Relatives came in from all over, people we haven't seen for a while. My grandson Jason was there.I haven't seen him in nine months since he's been away at school.I was very sad to miss him.He goes to school far away.

The party was in Hamilton,A large city on Lake Ontario,at our son Steve's house. He and his wife went all out to make it nice.
Some of the kids have been calling me in the last hour to tell me what a great time they had.Brian always gets sick at Christmas.I think it's because he doesn't like Christmas. He and Vix would get along great.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Brian, bless his soul. I can understand how he feels. Next week the same time it is already all over..LOL
What about the masses of snow you have told me about the other day? Has it gotten any better?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous9:34:00 PM

    o.k I e-mail you Jeannie

    ReplyDelete
  40. We were supposed to get another heavy snowfall last night. However it turned out to be fairly light. You could hear the country sigh with relief. We haven't dealt with the last storm yet.
We like a white Christmas, but we don't like to be up to our shoulders in it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous9:38:00 PM

Jeannie we will get through this holiday season and then we can get back on track.

    ReplyDelete
  42. That is good to hear, Jeannie. Too much snow can cause power outage and roofs to cave in. Especially if the snow is wet and heavy. Been there done that. Therefor, I am more happy to have not to deal with snow where I am.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous9:44:00 PM

Jeannie we love them anyway,we really couldn't get along without them.

    ReplyDelete
  44. We have a lot of skiers and snow boarders who are ecstatic about the snow and most people own a snowmobile, they're pretty happy.
You go a little further north of me and you need snow shoes to get around.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Right now,I feel the same as you Vix.Pretty to look at,hard to deal with. When we have a power outage in winter people die, mostly old folks, trapped in their houses. The elements have no mercy.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Problem is, we all get so used to using power for almost everything -heating, eating, computers. And a few days without power can have devastating effects. On your mind and for our health.

    ReplyDelete
  47. After growing up in a different climate, does the heat ever get opressive?Do you miss the change of seasons?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Since I grew up in a part where it is almost 4 months Winter, I can't say I miss it. Winter in this part means occassionally rain and lower temperatures (it seldomly rains during the rest of the year) - but it never goes below 54.
Summer is a different matter - 110 is the norm and sometimes one has problems with breathing.

Thanks Vix, it sure is swell I know how to do the nasty, cause I am dumb as shit when it come to gadgets.(GIGGLES)
