LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Actress Farrah Fawcett, the "Charlie's Angels" television star whose big smile and feathered blond mane made her one of the sex symbols of the 1970s, died on Thursday after a long battle with cancer, her longtime companion actor Ryan O'Neal said. She was 62.
Fawcett was first diagnosed with anal cancer in late 2006. She died in a Los Angles hospital after being admitted earlier this week.
"After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away. Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world," O'Neal said in a statement.
Fawcett's cancer spread to her liver in 2007, proving resistant to numerous medical treatments in Germany and California.

Farrah Fawcett (real name Mary Farrah Leni Fawcett) was born in 1947 at Corpus Christi, Texas. She had her first break guest starring in shows such as 'I Dream of Jeanie', 'The Flying Nun', and 'The Partridge Family' during the 1960s before meeting Lee Majors in 1968 and going on to achieve fame for her looks in 'The Six Million Dollar Man' and 'Charlie's Angels'.
A lovely lady and a courageous human being. I'm so sad she's gone. She became an icon in the seventies and seemed to represent that era to all of us.
Farrah was a very brave and beautiful lady.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people tuned in to see her on Charlies Angels.
Farrah was also a very talented actress.I loved her in the "Burning Bed".If you seen the movie you will know she was more that just a pretty face. She was a lady at all times and she will be sadly missed.
I saw the Burning Bed.It was very good, also a true story. She portrayed it very well.
ReplyDeleteI always liked her.She had some very rough times.Ryan was a drug addict with a taste for young girls. Her next boyfriend beat her black and blue. Her son is a druggie who used to shoot up with his father. She started behaving oddly and got very bad press saying that she was using drugs,we never found out why.I think she was already in pain. The kind of cancer she had is so painful, they can't sit down. The last two or three years, she has been in incredible pain.Poor woman.I weep for her.
Got here ahead of you ...HA!
ReplyDeleteI am here
ReplyDeleteJaye's friend's husband, let's call him Frank, had the same canccer. The pain was so bad he would cry and he coud not sit.He survived it.They completely removed his bowel. He has a colostomy.
ReplyDeleteI heard the talk about her ,but it soon died down,it was also said she was losing her hair at one time,Farrah was a lady until the end. I think Tatum O'Neal was crazy about her.
ReplyDeleteShe lost all her hair. Her hair was her crowning glory
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful,I guess it was to late for Farrah to get one,or maybe it wouldn't do any good.
ReplyDeleteIt seemed like her cancer resisted everything. You're right,it was most likely too far along.A very good reason to get a sigmoidoscopy,or a colonoscopy every year.
ReplyDeleteWhat was Johnny Carson's sidekick name on the tonight show? Wasn't it Ed Mahon? he died this week.
ReplyDeleteI get everything once a year, don't like where they stick their fingers, but it's for the best.
ReplyDeleteYes,Ed died this week.What a bad week.
ReplyDeleteHe was an icon too. They all were.He and Johnny ruled the sixties and seventies.
I haven't had any checkups this year.I must see to it.
ReplyDeleteBrian is in agony to night. He got frisky last night and got so carried away he put his back out.Now he can hardly move.
ReplyDeleteHe said it was worth it.
ReplyDeleteDid you get the one about me buying 4 cans of spray starch?
ReplyDeleteYeah, let me know how that works out.I may need the info some time.
ReplyDeleteOh my..my..Was he on top tap dancing,he enjoyed it,see what happens when the cable go out,and you go to bet early.hahaha Rub Brian back and tomorrow he willbe as good as new.
ReplyDeleteBrian said you be up all night talking to me and others,he showed you he don't be sleep all time.
ReplyDeleteNot tap dancing. We did the Bango Tango. It's a new dance. The cable was out so I asked him to amuse me.
ReplyDeleteSo naturally he dropped his pants.
ReplyDeleteHe always says, 'when in doubt, drop your pants'. If it's not the appropriate thing to do, at least you'll get a laugh.
ReplyDeleteDo you think you should keep Brian home tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteYou go Brain, keep the Genie happy, you will have to learn me that one for when I get a bright idea.
ReplyDeleteAs of tomorrow night, we are on holiday. We can't go away anywhere this year because Nana is so fragile and Brian is slated for some testing. He's not too well either, although he did very well for himself last night.(WOW,I was impressed.)We will just spend time at the house or out on the boat with family. That will suit us.
ReplyDelete(GIGGLES)You are pulling my leg,Brian didn't have on any pants, you just went in pulled the covers back and jumped on.Hahahaha
ReplyDeleteWe could stay overnight on the boat.It has a stove and fridge and a comfortable love nest, but Nana could go any time so I have to be close by.
ReplyDeleteYou're getting to know Brian very well. You already know he sleeps in the raw.
ReplyDeleteAs long as you are with each other ,you are on Holiday.Being with family is one of the greatest joys.
ReplyDeleteHow is Nana ? Do she have her little secret smiles? I know my daddy did. My dad would be 92 if he was still living,He did get a chance to see Jill.
Nana's a hoot. Ever since she sat here and read Daffodils all the way through and saw the pictures, she has been going through her boxes of photograghs and digging out special ones to show me. Maybe she wants me to do another story on the blog.Or maybe Daffodils just got her memories working overtime.
ReplyDeleteYou are a wonderful and loving daughter, you will have all your sweet and wonderful memories of your parents to last a lifetime,so hold them close to your heart.
ReplyDeleteI have one of them here. Our bedroom will be away from the rest of the bedrooms, and he can sleep naked,he say it feel nice for everything to be free.
Brian likes his 'boys' to get some air too.I don't think he could wear anything to bed. We had an awful time keeping pyjama bottoms on him in hospital.
ReplyDeleteJeannie ,do one,if it's nothing but pictures and a few words, you never know what Nana will tell you.
ReplyDeleteThis is our blog and if it will make Nana happy to see her pictures and another story on the blog..I say do it. It takes so little now to make her happy. What you say,I'm all for it.
She got a little hung up on details.I didn't pay too much attention to details, just a general outline of their story. You have very limited space on a blog.
ReplyDeleteI don't think she understands that.
The "ROCK" didn't know those nurses might grab it .hahaha
ReplyDeleteI'll talk to Nana about it.They had some wonderful adventures together.
ReplyDeleteWe had some great adventures in the forest, camping.I think I told one on the blog or maybe it was somewhere else.
The Rock was flirting with those nurses ,even though he'd barely survived. You can't keep the Rock down.
ReplyDeleteAbout the bear..I like that.
ReplyDeleteTalk to her and if she says you forgets some of the details, just smile. I bet it would make her so happy.
That will aslo be something you can keep in the family.Nana is ready to share ,take it girl and hold it dear.
ReplyDeleteShe seems to be enjoying the attention. She was touched by the way I told her story.
ReplyDeleteYou're right friend, when she is gone there will be no more stories to share.I need to get her to talk more about it.
ReplyDeleteDo you know Nana has 4 generations ,Nana, you, your kids and your grands.
ReplyDeleteYou should tuck yourself in next to 'Long Shanks' and dream of your new kitchen cabinets and granite counters.
ReplyDeleteI bet it's hot as blazes there. We are having hot muggy weather here.
Hard to sleep.
The Major was Nana's life, and that's what she is holding on to,now she wants to share it with you. I think she just realize you wanted to know, I bet she is not so mean now.
ReplyDeleteThat's right 4 generations. All four generations have been cared for by the same family of dentists for fifty years. The dad dentist and the mom dentist took care of us all for thirty five years then their daughter took over for the last fifteen years.
ReplyDeleteIt is hot and muggy here ,looking for rain this weekend.I looking at granite counters,I want hardwood floors, throw rugs,we are going to live all over my house and my babies will be free to roam.
ReplyDeleteYou have to have a good air-conditioner system or you will burn up.
ReplyDeleteI will say good nite and it's good to have you back...
Goodnite sweetie ,same time ,same place tomorrow..Luv...PIC...NEE
Your house sounds so comfortable and it will be welcoming too.Not all stiff and snobby. We're comfortable here.We moved from a big house that we built ourselves in the country, to a smaller city house when everyone finally left home.We may move again to a condo if Brian gets worse.
ReplyDeleteGoodnight my friend. It's been a pleasure.Did you read what Sis wrote to me under the cats?I love your family....Ha!
ReplyDeletePleasant dreams, bright tomorrow... Your friend and PIC...Jeannie
Carpet will be to much trouble with kids in and out,so hardwood will be better to care for.
