Man-Made High Points

Grand Canyon Skywalk -- Eagle Point , Arizona
The glass bottomed U-shaped Cantilever structure spans 70 feet and juts over the brim of the  Grand Canyon -- with the thundering Colorado River  just a faint 4,000 feet below. Completed in 2007 . A visit to the  imposing Grand Canyon's Skywalk  will take you to a whole new level.

Burj Khalifa , Dubai
The world's tallest building , the 2,716.5 foot Burj Khalifa  -- the outdoor viewing flatform  --  half a mile above ground on the 124th floor , offers incredible views of the Persian Gulf.

SkyPark , Marina Bay Sands , Singapore
Nearly 660 feet above Singapore , the park which is the size of three soccer stadiums , includes a 500 foot long pool -- several restaurtants and bars. Views look out over the city and to the South China Sea.

The Sky Room, New York
When  you're craving a night  out with altidute , head for the Sky Room, gaze out over Manhattan and the Hudson River as you quaff a Mile-high  gimlet  (Prosecco and Chambard) . Basking above it all on the 33rd & 34th  floor of the Fairfield Inn  & Suites by Marriott  Times Sguare.

Avala Tower , Belgrade , Serbia
The 671-foot high Avala Tower has the dubious honor of being a replacement for the tallest tower ever destroyed , other than the World Trade Center towers. The current building , which opened in 2009 , was built to replace the original 1965 TV Tower which was bombed by NATO in 1999 . This Belgrade landmark sits just outside the city on Avala Mountain.

Bloukrans Bridge , Eastern Cape , South  Africa
Africa's tallest bridge is the site of one of the world's highest commerical operating bungee jumps , run by Face Adrenalin . The bridge  is 709 feet above the churning Bloukrans River , which marks the border between the Eastern and Western Capes.
My take :  It would be nice to visit  these spots and enjoy the incredible views....I did have the opportunity to spend  time at the Sky Room  (that was before all the babies. I was on my honeymoon  and what a thrill and  my man says the best is yet to come.

    Hiya Cutie...How's it's going ?
How's Nana, still throwing things in the trash ? [giggles]
I bet Brian is doing his jiggly dance and you are jiggling right back at him, oh what fun you two have.

  4. Nana is still throwing stuff in the trash and now she is packing all her stuff in tissue paper and boxes like she is going somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Where in the hell is she going? She has thrown out half the family photographs. All her breakable things are packed and she has a packed suitcase, jammies, toothbrush and all. I think she has it in her head that she is going to meet her maker anytime. soon

We put our heads together to analyze your dream and came to the conclusion that it was a good 'omen' of good things to come.

Nana is packed to go be with the Major, and she wants all her things in order and not leave anything undone.
What a truly and wonderful love that they have had...truly soul mates.

  8. I'm so glad the dream is an omen of good things in your view. It could have been taken either way and I was confused.

Remember the video you put on FTBB of the lady singing in the subway.
There's a post about her on SH's, her name is Alice Ridley and she's Gabby's mother....take a look.

  10. Yes I think Nana is preparing to go and I'm all choked up again to think they will both be gone, I will have to put their pictures away for a long while.I will be a basket case.

Always my friend, look on the positive side...never let negative things cloud your view when you still have a fighting chance.
We may not be able to save them all but we can protect what's left and give them and other species a safe environment.

  12. Nice article. Alice is a charming woman and I love her voice especially when she sings the blues.

I know you are not ready for her to go...and the hurt will go deep , something that will never go away...so if you feel like crying do so, do not hold it in..
People will tell you a lot of things but they don't know how you feel...everyone grieves in their own way .Don't hold it in just let it out...I still cry and .
People will tell you time heals...they lie, time only make it a little bit better to handle.
Sweetie , I lost my daddy almost 4 years ago and I still cry.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I still cry too if I see something that belonged to my dad. I am sorry for your grief and I am sorry for mine.

I was surprise when I found the article and to know you posted her video here.
I hope Alice don't let Elle put her on their cover...

That's what bugged me the most was people saying they knew how I felt.
Liar, liar, their pant's on fire.
It's best to just say sorry for your lost and if there's anything I can do, let me know.

  17. People don't leave much behind when they die. They give almost everything away like Nana and they don't leave much in a physical sense, a few possessions and some jewellry. It isn't much to mark the passage of a life. You had better hope you left something in people's hearts or at least in their minds.

You has the smae thoughts as Gil about Dad and he says by damn his daddy last days are going to be calm .

    ReplyDelete
  19. In a way, my dad did a cruel thing. Every year when we see the first of those damn daffodils, I weep like there is no tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anonymous10:43:00 PM

That's why you always tell me to make wonderful memories ..Thankyou

    ReplyDelete
  21. I will put Nana's ashes there too.She says she doesn't care where we put them. She wants a little plaque put on the back of a bench in Jersey. They have these benches all along the seafront where we used to live.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous10:46:00 PM

    The Major wasn't cruel sweetie.
He was a loving dad and he left you something that let you know he was still watching over you and love you so much.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous10:51:00 PM

You can put a plaque for her and the Major on the bench in Jersey.
Dad still have Rosa's ashes and he want them to be spreaded together..
They are at the house in Reno in a safe, I don't know where they will be spreaded yet.

    ReplyDelete
  24. You'll have to find out where they spent their honeymoon or where they spent their happiest years.Dad will know where they should go.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Another thing Nana wanted was for me to get her name carved on an ordinary field stone with the dates and for me to throw it in a meadow or woods somewhere so that when someone found it a hundred or a thousand years from now, they would think about her and wonder who she was.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I thought her idea was really cool even though it's a bit odd.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anonymous11:05:00 PM

We asked him and he said he wanted them where his grands are so Rosa will be close to them.
Dad told me not to worry,he wasn't going anywhere soon...his gun will shoot a lot more times if only he could find his bullets ..[giggles]I told you that man was a hoot.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous11:08:00 PM

I think that is a great idea.
Remember the locket you found...you put your dad's picture in it and it made you feel safe...
Who knows who find it may bring them luck.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I still have that locket and my dad's picture is still in it, very badly cut out because I was on;y seven.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anonymous11:17:00 PM

Just look at the love a seven year old had for her daddy and the feeling that went into it.
We are the apples of our daddy's eyes.
You an only child and I was just like an only child, we had all our daddy's attention.

  31. I'll have to go through the log and find that story to show Jaye. I should make copies of my stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anonymous11:25:00 PM

Ater you post sometime it comes up about they will make a book about your posts for about $14.95 in paperback and hardback cost a little more.
You have some wonderful posts and I think you shold make copies, a lot about Ian/JakeyMurphy etc.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anonymous11:28:00 PM

I'm going to go through it and put dates down about some of yours also.
Right now my ass is dragging, we got a good start today ...but Sis started selling yesterday because people starting coming by real early .

    ReplyDelete
  34. That's not a bad idea. Speaking of which, J and Angeli are writing their book again. They have different writing styles. Angeli's is flowery, colorful and descriptive and J's is like a journalist, straight to the point, which is how she was taught. So I don't know how they get around that.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Stop selling. You want to have all your best stuff on display opening day. so word gets around that you have good stuff.

    Is the barn full yet?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous11:42:00 PM

Don't worry they will get around it and the book will be good .
The styles may be different but it rubs off on each other and the out come is okay.
When I met you I said thank you and now I say thankyou...it's just a matter of what part of the country you are from.
As you know we Americans all have our way of talking/writing.
Jaye/Angeli's book is going to be great.
Maybe when you have more time , you and Jaye can write a book..HUH??

    ReplyDelete
  37. Did you put an add in your local newspaper.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous11:44:00 PM

Today was the day we were to start selling and the stuff is coming in and some of it is really nice.
We have less than a month.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous11:46:00 PM

I went to the rent-all stores and asked them for donations.
We had everything all set up for today, everyone on the compound pitched in and it looks nice...not junky. And it's a lot of us grown-ups.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Anonymous11:52:00 PM

NAN/Lois put it in Friday to run for 3/4 weeks and said we starts today at 8:AM , but they had it ready Saturday and the Barn is fun..we have a kitchen/2 restrooms.
You told me once we could have our own town.
Susan is working her butt off.
When our guests left Saturday night around 11/12 they was still out there.

  42. Our two little icons look very good together, very magical. I think I had better keep my name or do you think we will be safer from stalkers if I change??

    ReplyDelete
  43. Susan is working hard, eh?? People surprise you sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous11:58:00 PM

I meant the barn is full.
Sis said a lot of people taht was here yesterday came back today and brought some people with them and Dad was right in the mix..the guys are fixing whats broke if they can .

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous12:02:00 AM

I want you to keep your name.
JEANNIE and WITCHY go together quite well.
JEANNIE rubs the LAMP and WITCHY rides her broom and cast spells and the two together will kick ass.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anonymous12:05:00 AM

Fuck the stalkers and if by chance Heidi comes back and wants to act a fool ...fuck her too.
I don't think she has the balls to show her face.
We don't have to go private with our blogs because we welcomes everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous12:07:00 AM

Nothing Susan do suprises me , she has always been one step behind the band.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I will keep it.
It was a good idea to set up this blog so we could have a conversation every night. I think that emailing back and forth would have been a real HASSLE. I don't think most of our readers realize why it was created.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous12:09:00 AM

I'm going to have to count and see how many grown-ups we have here.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Have you ever actually counted the people in the compound???Do you think it is over a hundred??

    ReplyDelete
  51. Anonymous12:16:00 AM

Are you going to write about why we are here if so post it on both blogs.

You know why I wanted a blog.We wanted to talk about our families and I could tell you was getting tired and I didn't want to lose you and sometime you would be gone for 5/6 days...We had run of of things to say about DC.
I think we will do real good.
    Sweetie...Susan is an ass-hole .

E-Mailing is great to tald about private stuff or when I get long winded.

  56. Nana wants to go to Chapter's tomorrow and buy a few hundred books to keep her going. She loves Diana Gabaldon, her favorite author and I like her too. She wrote an amazing series of books about finding a portal to the past and the amazing adventures her hero and heroine had. I love time travel.
