Daytime queen Oprah Winfrey plans to anchor her new cable TV network with her own evening show. To be titled Oprah’s Next Chapter, the series will cast Winfrey, 56, as a globetrotting correspondent, though it doesn’t seem that the tone will change much.
“I'm going to take viewers with me, going to take celebrities I want to interview with me,” Winfrey told The Wall Street Journal.
The eponymous network, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), is being launched Jan. 1st in partnership between Winfrey’s Harpo Inc. production company and Discovery Communications.
It will feature a rich fare of reality TV, the heaviest meal being Oprah herself. Her new hour-long show may air as many as three nights per week, the Journal reports.
....Also on tap for the network, a series starring Canadian pop star Shania Twain about adjusting to life after divorce.
.... Survivor creator Mark Burnett will provide an unidentified competition show.
....There will be a Moses Znaimer-esque arts biography series entitled Visionaries (Lady Gaga is an early subject);
....And, Master Class, which will offer life lessons from the likes of Condoleezza Rice and Jay-Z
Three nights a week Oprah?? I don't think I can stomach that much Oprah.
