Million Dollar Reward for Christopher Dorner

On Feb. 9, TMZ posted a video recorded by Charlie Sheen thanking Dorner for complimenting him in a manifesto the former Navy Reservist posted online. He also asked Dorner to call him to “end this thing.”

Manhunt continues for Christopher Dorner, who police say killed Monica Quan and her fiance Keith Lawrence on Feb. 1, as well as a police officer on Feb. 7.

On Feb. 10, 2013, Los Angeles officials announced a $1 million reward is being offered as a bounty for the capture of accused murderer and former LAPD officer, Christopher Dorner. According to the Press-Telegram, officials noted the reward is the largest ever offered for a fugitive. It is reportedly compiled of contributions from over 30 private and public donors, including the LA Dodgers, Anschutz Entertainment Group, and the Long Beach Police Officers Association, along with LA, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties and several anonymous donors.

LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck announced the reward in a televised news conference on Sunday. “Let me be clear, our dedication to catching this killer remains steadfast. We will not tolerate this reign of terror. We will not tolerate this murderer remaining at large,” said Villaraigosa.

In a written statement the San Bernardino Sheriff’s office wrote, “The search continues to locate Christopher Dorner in the Big Bear area…” Dorner’s burning truck was found abandoned and burning in the mountain region on Feb. 7, with tracks in the snow leading away from the vehicle. Dorner is accused of murdering women’s college basketball coach Monica Quan and her fiancĂ© Keith Lawrence on Feb. 3 as they sat in Lawrence’s white Kia in the parking lot of their Irvine condo complex. He is also suspected of killing a police officer in Riverside on Feb.7. Dorner is described by the LAPD as black, 6-feet tall, and about 270 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.  He is armed and extremely dangerous.

The authorities have no hard new information as to the whereabouts of Dorner who definitely sent Southern California into a massive panic/manhunt that stretched across the southern most part of  state. But they certainly have had many leads! And local media outlets sure did report plenty of sightings of men who looked like Dorner, or had cars like Dorner. Because when you're seeing alerts on pretty much every freeway in town, and he's being called "the Most Wanted Man in America," well, there are going to be a lot of tips. From Big Bear ski resort in the San Bernardino Mountains, to 150 miles away from there in San Diego just an hour or two later, and most recently to the Los Angeles county jail. And, no, he wasn't there either. But given that Dorner is still on the lam — and that his haunting Facebook manifesto suggests he continues to pose a real-life threat — local and state police continue to take every sighting seriously. Don't hesitate to call the authorities if you think you have seen him - It's the sensible thing to do.
