http://www.space.com/25980-huge-mars-crater-photos.htmlAn eagle-eyed NASA spacecraft has spotted a fresh crater on Mars large enough to cover half of a football field, and it's no puny Martian pockmark. In fact, the crater is the largest new impact site ever seen on the Red Planet using orbiter photos.
NASA's powerful Mars Reconaissance Orbiter captured the photo of the new Martian crater after it suddenly appeared in March 2012. Mission scientists say it is the biggest fresh impact crater scientists have confirmed on any planet by using before-and-after images.
The crater likely was carved by a car-size asteroid in an impact event similar to last year's meteor explosion over Chelyabinsk, Russia, which shattered windows, damaged hundreds of buildings and left more than 1,000 people injured, NASA officials said.
Many thanks to my Junior NASA Scientists, Jonny and Chris
Aunt Jeannie daddy said if we keep looking we will find what we are looking for and he believe there is life out there , he do not know what form it will be in and may know a lot more than we do . Daddy said we may be the new kids on the block like a baby taking his fist steps .
ReplyDeleteJenny told daddy like Man when he start walking he never stop running . aunt Jeannie we will go to the debate in June and our team is ready . all our team mates will stay at the hotel this weekend . School is out Thursday . when we find more we will send them to you . we love you and sending you some of poppa punch .
Dear Jonny Chris and Cubs
ReplyDeleteI have always believed there is life out there somewhere. If life can happen here, then it can happen on another planet.
Who knows what stage of development they might be in. They may just be bacteria or they could be light years ahead of us in knowledge. It is kind of exciting to think about.
I think it is a great idea to have another practice debate at the hotel. June is coming pretty fast. I just know you will be in the top five.
Poppa's punch must be pretty good.I think I will enjoy it. Thank you once again for the great articles. I really enjoyed them.
Have a great summer Cubs and Junior Scientists. Sending you tons of love...Aunt Jeannie
