The movie " Battle: Los Angeles," currently filming on location in Shreveport, set off a special effects "fireball" Thurday morning at Linwood and Texas Avenues. The sci-fi flick, starring Aaron Eckhart, pit soldiers against an alien invasion. An eighteen-wheeler passes the special effects while traveling south on I-49.
A vacated gas station was detonated Thursday for the movie "Battle: Los Angeles." The special effects team produced a 100-foot fireball at the corner of Linwood and Texas avenues in Shreveport. The science fiction movie stars Aaron Eckhart( " The Dark Knight"), who is part of a marine platoon fighting off an alien invasion in a post-apocalyptic Santa Monica, California.
The explosion is part of a maneuver by the marine platoon to evade the aliens on an inner-city stretch of highway--Interstate 49 to Shreveport.
The Columbia Pictures project began filming in Shreveport and Bossier City on September 9th and will move to Baton Rouge to finish the rest of the filming.
" Battle: Los Angeles " is one of nine(9) movie or TV projects to have committed publicly to filming in north-west Louisiana in 2009.
Twenty-two projects filmed in the region in 2008,including ,"I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell" opening today in theaters at the "Louisiana Broadwalk."
My spin on this: Hollywood you better watch out for us because we are going to move you in second place and we will hold the honors of having the most talented people in show biz. After all most of your actors/actresses/ writers come from this area. My only advice to them is to remember where you come from and who you are. Don't let fame and fortune ruin you. Remember , most of us are proud people. The nut don't fall far from the tree. But hey, that's just me. Stay tuned. The movie business continues. Keep your eyes open, I may see you in the movies.
