The shocking discovery was made during a routine appointment with his doctors, and it created a terrible dilemma for the star and his doctors. The very drugs that were fighting his cancer might have triggered the attack, leaving doctors with a potential life or death decision. Should they end the chemotherapy to protect his heart or continue his treatment regimen to slow the cancer progress and hopefully extend his life?Patrick's doctors discovered he had a heart-attack during a check-up and he was shocked, according to a Swayze family insider.

The 56-year-old actor had been in so much pain and on various medications that he never would have thought he was having a heart attack.He attributed all his syptoms to the cancer or it's treatment.When the doctors told him, he was floored. He knew his cancer would never be cured but was encouraged by the way he was responding to treatment. Then came the heart-attack. Recent pictures of the actor out with his brother showed Patrick looking healthier. He was still receiving treatment, evidenced by the catheters seen dangling from his chest. Sadly, Patrick's heart-attack made his cancer battle more difficult.

Having a heart-attack, even a small one would definitely be a potential disaster for a cancer patient like Patrick Swayze', says Dr. Mary Ann Malloy ,[a nationally known cardiologist]. A heart-attack almost certainly means the cancer drugs he took caused the damage, explained the physician,who has not treated the star. Yet these drugs are often toxic to the lungs and heart.

Continuing on these drugs could lead to a bigger heart attack. Yet the drugs are keeping the cancer from killing the patient. The news was a nightmare to Patrick and his doctors.After Patrick learned about his heart attack,he became discouraged, He asked a friend how he could fight that. The handsome actor was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in January 2008. He amazed his his doctors, family and friends with his brave fight.Then the pain became continuous and he started growing weaker each day.The heart attack was a tragedy on top of a tragedy.

Patrick's rep denies he had a heart-attack,but sources say that because of the heart-attack, Patrick became even more determined to fight. He decided to hang on as long as possible for his wife, family,friends and fans, said the source.

But Farrah Fawcett--- who died just a few hours before Michael was the most upsetting for Patrick because he knew her and she also had cancer.
