I can't shrink into greatness. When I reflect on the things I've done and not done, there is a tendency to beat up on myself. I criticize, I judge, and condemn myself much more severely than the world could or would. In response to this self-flagellation, I shrink away from doing or attempting to do. I cannot shrink into my greatness ! I must use my past as a road map, a key, that unlocks my capabilities by giving me understanding of my frailties. The past simply tells me what I can do, cannot do, what I need to work on or work out.I must know every intricate detail of myself. My past is like an X-ray machine. Once I see what is there, don't shrink, shine ! Now I know, which means I can take appopraiate steps toward healing and correction. I won't fight with myself! I will accept who I am now and all I've done. Then I will give myself a great big hug and kiss. I've been through a lot. A little tenderness could be what I need right now.
I don't succeed at everything I try, and that's okay. What's important is that I keep trying. I am a good person, trying to do the best I can. I will remember this and be as nice to myself as I try to be to others. But hey, that's just me.
Kicking back having fun and keeping it real:
