What Happened to My Knight in Shining Armor?

Where did he go?My hero, the guy who would slay dragons for me,who promised to take care of me forever, who adored me,lusted after me,is conspicuously absent these days.He seems more like a business partner now.We discuss mutually important things, like finances and children and of course health issues, since he had a catastrophic heart attack. We make all decisions together, very democratically.

Of course,I know he cares for me,as I care for him,but we used to make each other laugh so much.We used to have our own language, little signals,we both understood. We looked forward to coming home ,just to see each other. We touched more and held each other more, not necessarily in a sexual way.Although,an innocent touch would often turn to passion. It was wonderful that my closest friend and companion was also the man who could turn me on just by smiling and winking at me.I could make him hot for me by raising an eyebrow.I used to call him 'Mr Eveready',because he was.Even our friends called him by that nickname.

Okay,I know we're older. Those hot sexy feelings get diluted, and maybe we 've started taking each other for granted. We have the added problem of his heart condition. It's the closeness,I'm not feeling lately.Where's the closeness and the love?I've also noticed that my husband is touchy and easier to annoy than he used to be.Is it possible that I'm more persnickedy too?Where is this going?I don't know.

All I know,is that if your relationship is an old one,you run the risk of neglecting it,thinking it will always be there. You think it won't change, but like anything else that needs nourishment,it can starve to death.I'm not about to let that happen.I'm starting a campaign to bring back the closeness.

My 'Knight in Shining Armor'may never come back, but I'll settle for the court jester,as long as we think the world of each other.

Some Days....

commentbaby.com
You've probably had a day,or many days, you'd rather forget.Maybe you woke up late. You didn't have time to shower or wash your hair.Just a quick wash and out of the house with your hair sticking up in all directions. You don't feel put together right.Your outfit was a bad choice and you notice you have stains on your shirt.
Where are the damn car keys?"I'm late!Where'd I put the fucking keys?"
"Kids, please help me find the keys."...."I'll give you money."

If you could just freeze that tableau, step outside of it and walk away, would you?Escape, just for a few hours or a whole day.Go somewhere, where no one could find you, where you could be completely alone.A quiet place,no sound but birds singing,a soft breeze blowing,a tinkling of water flowing. With a good book in one hand and a fishing pole in the other,or maybe just a cup of coffee, you would sit by a small lake with sunlight bouncing on the ripples...Ahhhh!
Maybe your preference is soaking in a fragrant tub of bubbles, with candles around you and a glass of wine.Again...Ahhhh.
Whatever your escape might be,every once in a while, just do it.You deserve it.The world won't stop spinning.Nothing at work has such earth shattering importance,it can't wait a few hours. This is important to your emotional and spiritual health,to your sense of well being.
Our life pace is too frantic, too harried, too controlled by the clock.I can't count the number of times a day I look at my watch and reorganize and reprioritize my schedule.
Honestly,we're here for a blink,in the scheme of things. You don't realize that, until you're in your fifties and life starts hurtling past you so fast, you get a little scared. You get a feeling that you've missed something. You consider the possibility you might have been pursuing the wrong things. You realize, you really can't take anything with you,so you better start savoring it right now.
If you think this is just another homily, telling you to stop and smell the roses....You're right. So,go and smell them.

My Great-Grandmother the Madame Part 2

Well,lets get started,where we left off,shall we?
Josie was becoming quite a wealthy and well known woman. She had the best looking women. If you were not getting the honey at home, you could come up to one of Josie's houses.....you would get the loving that you only dreamed about. There was no rough stuff .All the ladies were treated with respect. If the men got out off line, I am told Josie had some of the biggest and blackest bucks she could find.(GIGGLES).
The saying was,in those parts, you act up at one of Josie's houses, your ass would disappear.
I have heard all my life ,Louisiana has more crooks than any other state. It's said ,that is the reason we have parishes. The other states have counties.Go figure.Josie's Captain came to visit her for the last time when their daughter was about fifteen(15).She,dear friends, was my father's mother. The captain stayed about three (3) months .It is not known what happened to him.We know he was an Englishman. He had a wife and kids ,but that is about all we know of our great-grandfather,only that he loved Josie very much.It is said that he retired ...stayed in England with his wife and children. Some say his ship went down at sea.I like to think he stayed at home with his family.Whatever happened,I thank you gramps, for giving Josie ,a daughter(ROSE),my grandmother.I am told, she would have made you proud.
Josie was thinking of retiring, when her brothers-in-law told her, they would run the business for her.
That's how Josie got in the bootlegging business. There was a lot of wooded area around Josie's,to put up stills for making the moonshine. The men didn't have to worry, because all four(4) of them were in law enforcement, one way or the other...I am told they made pretty good money.
Well,Josie retired when Rose reached maturity...she married at the old age of seventeen(17) years .I am told Rose had a lot of spunk...strong will....a mind of her own.She had three children, two girls, one boy.Lordy I am glad she had him.You see he was my father.Rose ruled her family with a iron fist....I am told my grandfather was a large and gentle man.My daddy was the middle child .He had all of Josie's business sense.
Josie never wanted any of her children to go into the business. She sold her house and moved into town..which is known as the French Quarters. It is said Josie was never the same after her sea captain left for good.I'm told, she always said she would make the same choices again, for her children....
Stay tuned ...to be continued........

Jakey's joke

Love from Jakey(9 years old)
