Tragic Jaycee Dugard would still be a prisoner--forced to service the sick sexual demands of fierd Phillip Garrido--if it wasn't for hero cop Ally Jacobs, investigators reveal.Jacobs says alarm bells went off when the accused kidnapper Garrido, a 58-year-old convicted rapist , arrived at the University of California Berkeley campus with his daughters by Jaycee seeking to arrange a religious event .
The girls, Starlite and Angel, spoke like robots and had this weird look in their eyes like brainwashed zombies, says Jacobs. They were very pale , with long hair, bright blue eyes and dressed likr characters from "Little Houuse On The Prairie." The girls said they were "home schooled" and Garrido explained he was teaching them to "interact with people" according to the cop.
Jacobs asked one girl about a large bump over her eye. She said , it's a birth defect. It's inoperable and I'll have it for the rest of my life, recalls Jacobs. The way she responded , was rehearsed. I really think my motherly instincts kicked in at that point.
The suspisious cop, who has two kids of her own, had no choice but to let them leave. But Jacobs was so worried about the girls, she checked and found Garrido was a sex offender, she contacted his probation officer and when I mentioned the daughters, he said, wait a minute, he dosen't have any daughters, says Jacobs. My stomach dropped.
Amazingly, despite visiting the Garrido home, cops say bungling probation officials were unaware he and his wife Nancy had imprisoned Jaycee and her daughters in a backyard labyrinth of tents and sheds. After Jacobs call, Garrido was ordered to report to his parole office and arrived with Jaycee, the girls and his wife Nancy. Lawmen say, thanks to Officer Jacobs the trio was finally free.
My take on this: A mother instinct is barely ever wrong, I know Jaycee's family heart-felt thanks go out to this wonderful and caring lady. I, like so many others wonder why it taken so long...is it because we don't care about our fellow man ..or because it's not happening to us directly, we don't want to get involved? Well let me tell you, however the ball bounce, it may bounce your way, then we will see how the shoe fits. But hey, that's just me.
