Legend Of The Dreamcatcher

Native Americans of the  Great  Plains believe the air is filled with both good and bad dreams. Historically,  dreamcatchers were hung in the teepees or lodges and on a baby's cradle board.

According to legend , the good dreams pass through the center  hole to the sleeping person. The bad dreams are trapped in the web , where  they perish in the light of dawn.

Sleep well dear sweet child
Don't worry your pretty little head
Your dreamcatcher is humming
Above your bed

Listen  ever so softly
I know you can hear
The tone of beyond
Close to your ear

Love is alive
and living in you
Beyond all your troubles
When  good dreams come true

My spin : This is an ancient legend , since dreams will never  cease , hang a dream net above your bed . Dream on and be at peace.

Michael Middleton : My Daughter , The Queen

Kate Middleton's father , Michael Middleton , was spotted out last night driving back to his estate  in Reading ... just days after it was announced Kate was engaged to Prince William.

Michael Middleton must have done something right.

My  spin : Lovely true story that is unfolding . Lovely young woman who credits her close relationship with her family , and clearly values their presence in her life . Indeed Mr. Middleton and his wife  must have done a whole lot of  "things" right.

Congratulations to this (obviously very much in love and very) happy couple.

What Will Kate's title Be When She is Married ??

Kate Middleton's engagement to Prince William has sparked an avalanche of Web interest. Top of mind now, what will Kate's new title be? Is she in line to be queen? And how does Prince Harry figure into all this? Figuring all this out can be a royal pain, so we did the legwork for you. Here's a quick summary of everything you ever wanted to know about royal marriages but were too common to ask.

Kate's title:
Once married, Kate Middleton will unofficially become "Princess Catherine." The official title will likely be Her Royal Highness Catherine of Wales. Eventually, after many years and barring any unforeseen tragedy or divorce, she and William will become the Queen and King of England. But! She won't have that title until her father-in-law to-be, Prince Charles of Wales, has had his turn.

The future Queen?
Kate being queen is a ways away. In the meantime, she and William will likely earn an honorary title after marrying. An article from People magazine speculates that some possible titles include the "dukedoms of Clarence, Cambridge and Sussex." These titles are "eminently suitable" for the couple. Why? HowStuffWorks explains that the titles of Duke and Duchess are among the highest order of nobility. If things go according to plan, eventually she will be the Queen. First, though, the title of duchess is most likely.

Who decides on the titles?
The Queen does, who else? An excellent article from the Sydney Morning Herald explains that if "the Prince surprises all and turns down a title, Kate would become HRH (Her Royal Highness) Princess William of Wales or Princess Catherine or Kate of Wales." Again, though, this is highly unlikely. When Prince Charles becomes king, it is believed that he will name William Prince of Wales, thus making Kate the Princess of Wales. Confused yet?

What about Harry?
Prince William's younger brother Harry is also in line to be King of England, but he is behind William. So, if and when he does marry, he won't be able to promise his bride-to-be the lofty title of queen. Sigh, the perils of being the younger brother. Still, we imagine that Harry is pleased to remain a prince. After all, it's a pretty sweet life. And as for what title Prince Harry's future wife will have, that's anybody's guess.

What about Prince Philip?
If your entire sum knowledge of royal lineage comes from "King Ralph," you might not understand why the Queen's husband, Prince Philip is not the King. Some online sources explain that this "the husband of a female monarch does not have any recognized special status, rank, or privileges." However, other sources argue that if the Queen wanted to appoint Philip as King she could. Sheesh, and we thought "Lost" was confusing.

Haiti Blames UN Forces For Starting Cholera Epidemic

Protesters in Haiti's capital are lashing out at United Nations peacekeepers and the government, blocking roads and attacking foreigners' vehicles.  Demonstrators have set up burning barricades, and Haitian police have responded with tear gas. Vehicles belonging to the UN and non-governmental organizations have been pelted with rocks.  Days of rioting in northern Haiti are over suspicions that UN soldiers from Nepal introduced a cholera epidemic into the country. The  Nepalese base is located on the Artibonite River system, where the outbreak started. The soldiers arrived there in October following outbreaks in their home country and about a week before Haiti's epidemic was discovered.

The UN military mission denies responsibility for the epidemic. The number of cholera cases in Haiti is likely much higher than official figures suggest because many patients never make it to hospitals or treatment centres, a UN official said. The Pan American Health Organization said in a statement Wednesday that 1,100 people have died and more than 18,000 people have been hospitalized since the cholera outbreak in Haiti began in late October.

Cholera is  an intestinal infection caused by consuming food or water contaminated by Vibrio cholerae bacteria.  Transmitted by feces, the disease can be all but prevented if people have access to safe drinking water and regularly wash their hands. But sanitary conditions don't exist in much of Haiti and the disease has spread across the countryside.  The outbreak has now spread to seven of the country's 10 administrative regions, known as departments.
"This epidemic is not going to go away," a rep from the Pan American Health Organizatio said, noting that experience in other countries suggests the cholera outbreak could last as long as a year. "It is almost impossible to stop." He said the number of cholera treatment centres is increasing but recent protests have been slowing the delivery of aid to some areas, particularly near Cap-Haitien, Haiti's second-largest city.
"We have had a number of protests from Haitians not wanting the centres in their communities because they fear they will somehow get infected," he said. "We're trying to tell them having a treatment centre close is actually an advantage to you."

The UN has called for nearly $164 million US to assist with the cholera outbreak. The European Commission said Thursday that European nations should send Haiti a whole range of medical supplies, not just money, to fight the cholera outbreak. The commission said there is a great need for medical skills, beds, epidemiological expertise, antibiotics, intravenous catheters, body bags, water purification tablets, rehydration salts and ambulances.

The UN's World Health Organization said in Geneva on Tuesday that efforts should focus on controlling the disease, not determining where it came from. WHO spokesman Fadela Chaib told reporters that "at some time we will do further investigation but it's not a priority right now." The UN's spokeswoman in Geneva, Corinne Momal-Vanian, described the suspicion that Nepalese troops were to blame for the outbreak as "misinformation."

The cholera backlash plays upon some Haitians' long-standing resentment of the 12,000-member UN military mission, which has been the dominant security force in Haiti since 2004. It is also rooted both in fear of a disease previously unknown to Haiti and internationally shared suspicion that the UN base could have been a source of the infection. Cholera had never been documented in Haiti before it broke out about three weeks ago.

President René Préval addressed the nation last Sunday to dispel myths and educate people on good sanitation and hygiene.
