Tiger Admits He Let His Family Down "WHY?"

Tiger Woods said he let his family down with transgressions he regrets" with all his heart," and that he will deal with his personal life behind closed doors. His statement follows a cover story in US WEEKLY magazine that reports a Los Angeles cocktail waitress claims she had a 31-month affair with the worlds #1 golfer.
"I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves," Woods says on his website. I am not without faulfs and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failing behind closed doors with my family. Those feeling should be shared by us alone.
The cocktail waitress, Jaimee Grubbs, told the magazine she met Woods at a Las Vegas nightclub the week after the 2007 Masters--two months before Woods wife, Elin, gave birth to their first child.Grubbs claims to have proff in 300 text messages. About three hours before Woods statement, the magazine published what it said was a voicemail--provided by Grubbs --that Wods left on her phone on November 24, three days before his middle-of-the-night car crash outside his home in Florida.Woods did not offer details of any alleged relationship. "I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves," Woods said. "For all those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology."
Woods has been subjected to more media scrutiny over the last week than when he first won the "Masters" in 1997 and sey off the first wave of Tigermania.He has spoken three times through his Web site, although this was his longest posting. "Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means," Wood said. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. And he continued to say accounts that phyical violence played a role in his Friday morning car crash were "utterly false and malicius." Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect," he wrote.Woods was charged with careless driving and four points on his driving record. The story soon shifted from a patrol investigation to sordid allegations into his oersonal life.......In the voicemail released by the magazine,...a man says to Grubbs:....Hey, it's uh, it's Tiger. I need you to do me a huge favor. Um, can you please,uh, take your name off your phone. My wife went through my phome.And, uh, may be calling you. If you can , please take your name off that and,um, and what do you call it just a number on the voice mail, just have it as your telephone number. That's it,OK. You gotta do this for mr.Huge. Quickly. All right. Bye......The AP could not confirm Woods was the caller, but it sure sound like Woods.
My spin on this:I am not a fan of golf or Tiger, but believe him to be approcahing the status of the greatest golfer that ever lived. Unfortunately , now because of this , he will never achieve his goal as the greatest golfer. Golf is a game of character and graciousness as any sport. Kids looking up to Tiger as a role model is shoot to hell......I only have two questions for now....

A Year in Review

2009 was a tense, edge of your seat year, filled with major history making events. A year that most of us would not want to see repeated. Some of these events affected, in some way, every citizen of this planet. For example, the collapse of the world economy. Although it started in the United States with the stock market crash, every country in the world eventually fell into a financial decline. However, the same year also saw the seeds of recovery sprout and begin to cover the earth with green again, albeit, slowly.

Before we started feeling the benefits of financial recovery we were struck with a pandemic that generated fear and paranoia from the danger of mutations to the controversial vaccinations.The ongoing flu scare will keep us on our collective toes well into the next year.

Another history making, earth shaking event? A black man in the Whitehouse and this black man is not afraid to make bold , sweeping decisions that are often unpopular. The black first lady is also a strong personality and not afraid to let her opinions be known.

This year had the wildest weather conditions to date and they were global. Floods , hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, droughts and wildfires. People finally became aware that these conditions are not normal and will continue to worsen. This is also the year when the countries of the world will get together in Copenhagen and take positive steps to slow global warming.

It was a year of international crises. As well as the conflict in Afghanistan we had civil war in Sri Lanka and an emerging nuclear threat from Iran. Nuclear testing took place in North Korea on two occaisions and was soundly condemned by the UN.

We became acquainted with Sarah Palin and the many facets of her life. We mourned the loss of many great people. Among them, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson, whose mysterious death left us troubled and sad for his children.

It wasn't all bad. We did see a girl who was kidnapped as an eleven year old returned to her family eighteen years later. -- Sully Sullenberg landed flight 1549 in the hudson River after geese struck both engines and saved everyone on board. -- Hawaii made it illegal to text or talk on a cell phone while driving. -- We found water on the moon and NASA launched it's WISE mission. It will bring us accurate information on all the planets and objects around us in space to help us in our quest for an earthlike planet. -- On the whole it was a memorable year but not the kind we would take a whole lot of pleasure in remembering. Bring on 2010. I think it is going to be a year of amazing revelations.

Love Triangle Solved With "Murder"

Teacher Carla Hughes was having an affair with another instructor at her school--but she learned a hard lesson when she turned to murder to solve her romantic difficulties.

The problem : Her boyfriend Keyon Pittman was engaged to be married to another woman, Avis Banks, who was 5 months pregnant with his child, and he told Carla he wasn't going to leave Avis. So Carla, a single mom with a young son, murdered Avis and her unborn child--hoping she'd have Keyon all to herself. Carla was obsessed with Keyon--and Avis paid the price.

Police Lt. John Neal also stated :" Carla is evil. Her relationship with Keyon had taken over her life, she was bound and determined to be with him, but he wasn't willing to leave Avis, so Carla took matters into her own hands".

Carla, 28, and Keyon,34, worked at the Chastain Middle School in Jackson,Mississippi. She was a language arts teacher and coached the cheerleading sguard. He was the head basketball coach. Keyon was also engaged to 27-year-old Avis, a day care teacher.

At Carla's trial, Keyon testified he began his affair with Carla one month before Avis became pregnant. He said they had sex at the home he shared with Avis while she was out. Cold-blooded Carla murdered Avis and her unborn child, say authorities. She broke into her home in Ridgeland, Miss. and waited for her to return.When Avis came home she was met by a stone cold killer, said Assistant District Attorney John Emfinger.

As Avis got out of her car in the garage, Carla shot her four times--in the head, chest and leg. Then as Avis lay dying, Carla stabbed her three times and slashed her throat. A devastated Keyon, who found her, recalled :" Avis was on the ground in the garage. Blood was everywhere. I held her and kissed her and tried to get her to wake up".

Her twisted killer tried to make the grisly crime look like a burglary gone wrong. Carla yanked open dresser drawers in the house and scattered items on the floor.

"We knew it wasn't a burglary", said Lt. Neal of the Ridgeland police department." If a homeowner came home and found a burglar, the burglar might shoot them once or twice and then flee. They are not going to shoot the homeowner four times and then pull out a knife and stab them as well . This was a crime of passion--done in a rage".

The police quickly discovered that Carla had been having an affair with Keyon. They also discovered that just three days before the murder Carla got a loaded .38 caliber gun and a knife from her cousin. Carla gave them back to him two days after the murders ; the gun was empty."We got the gun and matched it with the bullets found in Avis's body", said Lt. Neal.

As evidence piled up, Carla was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder. Officials found no evidence of involvement by Keyon, but he still lives every day with a terrible burden of guilt. Carla's own 5-year-old son is being cared for by his father and his wife. On October 13, Carla was convicted of murder and is now serving life behind bars with no chances of parole.

My spin on this : There is no fury like a woman scorned...Keyon if you had only been faithful and kept your dangle in your pants , maybe , just maybe none of these events would ever have taken place. When you play with the devil, you have to pay with your soul. There are both men and women who don't take rejection well. My advice is to end one relationship before starting another. You never know what state of mind a person is in....Keyon there are four lives you ruined, Carla in jailed for life...where she belongs...her son , not being able to grow up with his mother...Avis and your unborn child and you will have to live with the consequences of your actions for the rest of your life. A Future With No Fish - A Reality

With the hunt for alternative sources of Omega-3 in full swing, health officials are considering genetically modified soybeans adapted to produce the essential fatty acids.
Omega-3 fatty acids, most commonly found in fish, are important for cardiovascular health and brain development in humans. For that reason, food guides in countries like Canada recommend people eat fatty fish twice a week. However, this advice is unsustainable, researchers claim. That's because, in the same way Canada's East Coast cod fishery fell into decline, global fish stocks are falling. Researchers predict there will be a shortage of Omega-3s globally, likely by mid-century.The oceans will be fished out.

"It will really be helpful to find alternative sources of Omega-3," Dr. Ussif Rashid Sumaila, director of the Fisheries Economics Research Unit at the University of British Columbia, told CBC News. "That [genetically modified soybeans] is a possible source of dealing with this problem."

The type of Omega-3s found in flax, or in the eggs of chicken fed flax, isn't as easily used by the body as the type found in fish oil. But it is possible to modify soybeans so they make Omega-3s that would offer the same benefits as fish, says David Jenkins, a nutritional scientist at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto.
"This would mean you've got a sustainable source of Omega-3 that comes from a plant form and you'd not be destroying the ocean stocks of fish," he says.

Recent research from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota shows that oil from genetically modified soybeans significantly increased levels of Omega 3s. While Canada considers how to proceed, the U.S. has already approved modified soybeans that contain Omega-3 fatty acids. But the issue could be controversial as many environmentalists are opposed to genetic modification of food. As well, many people suffer from soy allergies Researchers are also investigating other possible sources of Omega-3s from the ocean, examining algae or tiny zooplankton which are still plentiful.

Fish, one of our most necessary food sources, is fast disappearing.The only way to renew it and re-stock is to cut back on eating fish for a while, forcing fishermen to net fewer tons of fish per day. Soon we'll be reduced to eating algae and plankton, and that is not the best solution because so many species of sea-life survive by eating plankton and algae. We would be endangering those species.

The solution in my opinion is fish farms. If the government gave fishermen incentives to participate in a fish farm plan, it would make up for their losses in deep sea fishing.

Global fish stocks are in serious decline. Soon they will be gone.We should congratulate ourselves.We have discovered yet another way to undermine our own planet.

Just Who is Elin Nordegren Woods, Anyway??

As Tiger Wreck Watch 2009 lurches into its fourth day with little new information, fans and media are combing over every element of this case like symbologists in a Dan Brown thriller. There's brick wall after brick wall in this story, but one of the largest and most well-fortified is this: just who is Elin Nordegren Woods, anyway?

If you were to design the perfect wife for a privacy-hungry superstar like Tiger Woods, she'd look a whole lot like Elin -- low-key, accustomed to celebrity, and, from all appearances on the golf course, totally devoted to her husband's career.
Which is what makes the current questions about her recent behavior -- why did she smash a window in Tiger's Escalade? Is she responsible for his injuries? Why did she change her story to police? -- so challenging. We'd like to think the best of her, but we simply don't know much about her.

As the Daily Beast notes today in a story entitled "The Mysterious Mrs. Wood," there's only been one major story written about Elin Nordegren Woods -- a 2004 Sports Illustrated profile -- and even that story centered on how little anyone outside of her inner circle knows about her.

The facts: She grew up in Stockholm, and while she did some modeling in her teens, the idea that she was a "Swedish supermodel" is one of those urban legends that grows in the retelling. "She wasn't a high-profile model," as the Beast quotes a source from a New York modeling agency, and, to be fair, she didn't seem to be particularly interested in modeling as a career. But she was around the world of golf long before she met Woods, serving as the nanny to golfer Jesper Parnevik. She met Tiger at the 2001 British Open, and it wasn't exactly a romantic introduction.

Apparently, Tiger was so nervous about asking her out that he had a friend do it for him. Initially, she declined. But Woods persisted, she relented, and they married in a lavish $1.2 million ceremony in Barbados. That wedding was the stuff of tabloid heaven, with Hootie and the Blowfish as the house band and Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley in attendance.

Being married to the world's richest athlete apparently has done little to change Elin's public persona. We don't see her doing reality shows, we don't see her on the covers of magazines every month, and aside from releasing some photos, she doesn't parade her children around – two-year-old Sam and nine-month-old Charlie – seeking publicity. It's refreshing, really, to see someone in the limelight who's so apparently unconcerned.

And this brings up the question of obligation. Is Elin Woods obligated to share anything about herself with the world just because of the man she married? Of course not. Their private life is just that: private. Anything that goes on behind closed doors is their business ... as long as no crimes have been committed. Without speculating on the Woods case, any time there is a reasonable suspicion of domestic violence, it does indeed become a public matter.

What's definitive is that some of the events of recent days haven't been behind closed doors, they've taken place on public streets. And because Tiger Woods is a worldwide celebrity, anything he does in public, from hitting a golf ball to hitting a fire hydrant, draws worldwide notice. Combine the events of Friday morning with the allegations published last Wednesday that Woods had been pursuing an affair with another woman, and you've got a case that police simply cannot ignore.
