Oil Spills in Nigeria??

As U.S. officials now work to staunch the flow from the Gulf Coast spill, Nigeria remains mired in spills after 50 years of production by foreign firms eager for the country's easily refined fuel. Environmentalists estimate as much as 546 million gallons of oil have spilled into the country's Niger Delta during that time _ roughly at a rate comparable to one Exxon Valdez disaster per year. Isn't it strange we never hear about the 'oil disasters in third world countries'? Maybe it means we don't care about them. Apparently, no one bothers to clean them up either.
If you think about the third world countries...no one really cares about them unless they can raise money for them and pocket most of the money for themselves and the countries is worse off than ever after they leave.
